TF999 Docs

TF999 controls

This is the player guide for keys this pack adds. Change any of them in-game:

Options → Controls → Configure Addons

Then open the category listed for that key.

Keys listed as not bound do nothing until you assign them there.

Addon options (not keys) are listed in settings_users.md.

Everyday

Key Category What it does
Alt + I TF999 Weapons Inspect your current gun (also on the ACE self-interact menu under Equipment).
Ctrl + Alt + I TF999 Weapons Inspect your current grenade / throwable (also on the ACE self-interact menu).
Insert TF999 Core → Earplug Put in or take out earplugs.
Ctrl + Tab (hold) TF999 Core → Earplug With earplugs in, scroll the mouse wheel to make the world quieter or louder.
` (tilde / grave) TF999 Core → HUD Hide or show the HUD.
Shift + ` TF999 Core → HUD Hide or show only the ShackTac HUD, if you use that overlay.
Shift + Space (double-tap) TF999 Core → Ragdoll Drop into a ragdoll. Press again to get up.
Shift + G ACE3 Weapons Prepare to throw a grenade the ACE way (hold, cook, throw).
Shift + T TF999 Animate → Tap/Squeeze Tap / squeeze a nearby teammate (shoulder or leg, whichever is closer).
Space TF999 Movement All-in-one — climbs, drops, or jumps, whichever fits.
Ctrl + Space TF999 Movement Climb/drop only — vault, climb, or drop over whatever's in front of you (no jump fallback).
Shift + Space TF999 Movement Jump in place.
Alt + Space TF999 Movement Assist — crouch so a teammate can use you as a step to reach a high ledge. Also on the ACE self-interaction menu as "Assist" if you'd rather not use the key.
Not bound TF999 Movement Holster Weapon and Interact (vehicle seats/ladders/doors/gear) — bind whichever you want.
Not bound TF999 Core → Backpack On Chest Switch backpack — chest, back, or swap if you have two. Also on the ACE Equipment menu.
Hold Shift + W (double-tap to start) TF999 Movement Double Time — double-tap to start a weapon-specific alternative sprint style, keep holding to keep sprinting. Releasing the key cancels it, and so does any movement change (turning, strafing, going back, crouching, etc.) or running out of stamina.
Alt + W TF999 Movement Auto Run — keeps you moving forward without holding W, at whatever speed you last picked (walk / jog / run). Press again to stop, or tap almost any other key / left-click.
W (while auto-running) TF999 Movement Switch auto-run mode — cycles walk → jog → run without stopping. Does nothing while auto-run is off, so W still walks normally.
Hold Left Shift (while dragging) TF999 Inventory Move 5 matching items at once in the inventory.
Hold Left Ctrl (while dragging) TF999 Inventory Move the whole matching stack in the inventory.
Ctrl + Enter TF999 - Tools Misc Toggle Helmet Cam — switches to a fixed helmet-mounted camera view with a full-screen overlay. Press again to return to normal. While active, it also takes over your fire mode, reload, NVG toggle, and adds a laser dot — don't use it at the same time as ACE's own equivalents.
Ctrl + 4 TF999 CQB Order nearby AI to surrender — shouts at units in range (default 50 m, needs line of sight) to drain their morale.

Lights, lasers, and scopes

These control the flashlight, IR laser, or illuminator on your gun.

Key Category What it does
F1 Illuminate The Night Turn the device on or off.
F2 Illuminate The Night Previous mode (toward visible light).
F3 Illuminate The Night Next mode (toward IR).
F4 Illuminate The Night Open the device menu. Tap to toggle it; hold, then release to close.
Alt + F1 Illuminate The Night Toggle flood / diffuser on compatible IR illuminators.
Alt + F2 Illuminate The Night Narrow the IR beam.
Alt + F3 Illuminate The Night Widen the IR beam.
F5 Illuminate The Night Emergency reset if the light/laser is stuck. Don’t use this otherwise.

View distance

Key Category What it does
Ctrl + [ CH View Distance Lower view distance.
Ctrl + ] CH View Distance Raise view distance.
Ctrl + \ CH View Distance Open the view-distance settings window.
Shift + [ CH View Distance Lower terrain quality (better FPS).
Shift + ] CH View Distance Raise terrain quality (sharper ground).

Walking and carrying the gun

Key Category What it does
Ctrl + mouse wheel up TF999 Animate Walk faster.
Ctrl + mouse wheel down TF999 Animate Walk slower.
T TF999 Animate → Tactical Ready position. The gun sits high or low on its own depending on cover and people around you.
Ctrl + T TF999 Animate → Tactical Compressed / CQB ready (gun tucked in). Height is chosen automatically.
Ctrl + right mouse TF999 Animate → Tactical Cant (tilt) the gun to shoot around a corner or under a visor.
Shift + Ctrl + right mouse TF999 Animate → Tactical Raise the gun over cover and shoot.
Shift + E TF999 Weapons → Tactical Lean the rifle out the right side of cover.
Shift + Q TF999 Weapons → Tactical Lean the rifle out the left side of cover.
Ctrl + right mouse TF999 Weapons → Tactical Raise the rifle over cover. Same default as Cant above — rebind one if they clash.
Left mouse TF999 Animate → Tactical - Cancel Leaves ready when you fire.
Right mouse TF999 Animate → Tactical - Cancel Leaves ready / compress / cant when you aim or stop aiming.

Walking speed reset/max, and separate high-only or low-only ready, are not bound. Assign them under TF999 Animate / TF999 Animate → Tactical if you want dedicated keys.

Sling (rifle on your back)

You need a sling item for this. It does nothing while you are prone.

Key Category What it does
1 TF999 Animate → Sling Smart sling: put the rifle on your back, pull it back off, or swap with a rifle that is already slung.

Separate “always sling” / “always unsling” keys are not bound. Bind them under TF999 Animate → Sling.

Throw and drop

Key Category What it does
Alt + T TF999 Animate → Items Wind up and throw the gun in your hands.
Ctrl + Alt + T TF999 Animate → Items Drop the gun in front of you.
C (hold, then release) TF999 Animate → Items Drop a green chemlight at your feet. Uses one from your inventory.
Left mouse TF999 Weapons → Grenade Throwing Throw the held grenade. Same default as melee Main and TSP ready-cancel.
Right mouse TF999 Weapons → Grenade Throwing Pull the pin / cook. Same default as TSP aim-cancel.
Mouse wheel TF999 Weapons → Grenade Throwing Cycle throw type (over / side / under).
Shift + mouse wheel TF999 Weapons → Grenade Throwing Change throw force.
Caps Lock TF999 Weapons → Grenade Throwing Plant a tripwire, or toss a grenade into a vehicle hatch.

Red and IR chemlights, and a no-windup weapon throw, are not bound. Bind them under TF999 Animate → Items.

Melee

Double-tap F to enter melee with a knife, tool, or rifle-butt. Press F again to exit. Then:

Key Category What it does
F (double-tap) TF999 Core → Melee Enter or leave melee ready.
Left mouse TF999 Core → Melee Main attack.
Right mouse TF999 Core → Melee Alternate attack.
Shift + left mouse TF999 Core → Melee Special (takedown, etc.).
Not bound TF999 Core → Melee Stealth Takedown — instantly kills an unaware AI you're behind while holding a melee weapon (not fists). Separate from Special above. Also reachable without a keybind: look at an eligible target and use the ACE interaction menu, "Silent Takedown".
S TF999 Core → Melee Block (hold).
Q TF999 Core → Melee Dodge left.
E TF999 Core → Melee Dodge right.
Mouse wheel up TF999 Core → Melee Push / shove.
Mouse wheel down TF999 Core → Melee Kick.

Hold-to-melee, toggle-to-melee, and “quick” push/kick (no windup) are not bound. Bind them under TF999 Core → Melee.

Rappelling

Rope off a building edge, or fast-rope out of a hovering helicopter. Every action also appears on the ACE self-interaction menu under "Rappelling & Fast-Roping" (then Fast-Roping or Rappelling) — the heli version only works that way (no dedicated key).

Key Category What it does
Shift + R TF999 Rappelling & Fast-Roping Attach to a nearby rope / rappel off a building edge / detach — whichever applies.
Ctrl + R TF999 Rappelling & Fast-Roping Detach a persistent rope left hanging after rappelling.

Emotes, dances, and hand signals

Almost none of these have a default key. Space cancels whatever you are playing.

Key Category What it does
Space TF999 Animate → Animations Stop the current dance / emote / gesture.

Bind the rest under TF999 Animate → Animations (and TF999 Animate → Animations (ACE) for the ACE hand signals). They are also on the ACE self-interact menu.

Dances / goofing around: Contact, Ivan, Duo, Stefan, Zozo, Metal, Kata, Pushups, Squats. (TF999 Animate → Animations)

Hand emotes: Bird, OK, Thumbs up, Thumbs down, Mahalo (shaka), Loser, Horns, Peace, Dab, Heart, Rock / Paper / Scissors, and a crude “jack off” emote. (TF999 Animate → Animations)

Door / stack signals: Bang it, Breach, Frag, Ballistic, Ready, Peek, Danger. (TF999 Animate → Animations)

Formations: Halt, Column, Line, Wedge. (TF999 Animate → Animations)

ACE signals: Advance, Go, Follow, Up, Cease fire, Stop, Forward, Regroup, Freeze, Cover, Point, Engage, Hold, Warning. (TF999 Animate → Animations (ACE))

There is also a suicide gesture and a second inspect animation under TF999 Animate → Animations if you want them.

Vehicle sling loading

Deploy cargo ropes under a helicopter/VTOL to sling-load a vehicle underneath it. Actions with no key here (Attach, Drop, Pickup Cargo Ropes) show up as a context action near the vehicle/rope instead.

Key Category What it does
Down Arrow TF999 Sling Loading Deploy a single cargo rope.
Ctrl + Down Arrow TF999 Sling Loading Deploy two cargo ropes.
Shift + Down Arrow TF999 Sling Loading Deploy three cargo ropes.
Up Arrow TF999 Sling Loading Retract all empty rope slots.
Right Arrow TF999 Sling Loading Extend all deployed ropes.
Left Arrow TF999 Sling Loading Shorten all deployed ropes (fully releases cargo if shortened all the way).
Ctrl + Shift + Left Arrow TF999 Sling Loading Release whatever cargo is currently slung.

Advanced Towing (ground-vehicle towing, in the same addon) has no keys of its own — its Prepare/Pack/Attach/Detach/Pickup/Drop rope actions are on the ACE interaction menu; see its options in settings_users.md.

Diving

Key Category What it does
F5 TF999 Diving Opens/closes the dive computer overlay (depth, gas, deco/deep-stop status) while wearing a rebreather.

The rest of diving (equipping cylinders, swapping gas, the mask on/off toggle) is on the ACE self-interaction menu, not a keybind. The cosmetic diving gear (wetsuits, drysuits, the Draeger reskin, diving goggles, the tank-shaped backpacks) has no keys at all — it's inventory items only.

Drill and whistle

Key Category What it does
] TF999 Main / Drill Stand still (drill position) — press again to return to normal.
Ctrl + ] TF999 Main / Drill At ease (drill position) — press again to return to normal.
Ctrl + H TF999 Main / Whistle Blows a FOX 40 whistle, if you're carrying one.

Placeable signs (a yellow marker flag and a mines-warning sign) and the placeable map have no keys — carry them as items and use them from the ACE equipment/self-interaction menu instead.

Zeus AI shortcuts

Key Category What it does
1 / 2 / 3 TF999 Zeus / AI Shortcuts Sets the selected AI's stance to up / middle / down.
4 / 5 TF999 Zeus / AI Shortcuts Sets the selected AI group's behaviour to careless / combat.
Shift + 4 / Shift + 5 TF999 Zeus / AI Shortcuts Sets the selected AI group's engagement rules to hold fire / return fire.
6 / 7 TF999 Zeus / AI Shortcuts Disables/enables the selected AI's automatic movement and target facing.
Shift + 6 / Shift + 7 TF999 Zeus / AI Shortcuts Disables/enables just the selected AI's movement (keeps target facing).

These only do anything while you're in the Zeus interface with a unit/group selected. The rest of Zeus's new Metis modules (artillery fire mission, unflip vehicle, suicide drone, target knowledge, remove smoke grenades) are curator modules or right-click context-menu actions, not keys.

Tips

  • If a key already does something in vanilla Arma or ACE, the addon version may share it (for example Shift + G for throwing, 1 for rifle). Rebind whichever one you actually want.
  • Inspect does not work while prone or in a vehicle.
  • Sling does not work while prone.
  • Earplug volume only changes while Ctrl + Tab is held and earplugs are in.
  • TF999 Suppression has no extra keys. Camera shake, blink, and AI pin are Addon Options only.
  • TF999 Core → Backpack On Chest “Switch backpack” is unbound by default — assign it under Configure Addons. Put-on-chest / swap / lower are also on the ACE Equipment menu.
  • TF999 Effects → Uniform Injury has no keys. Blood on modded uniforms is Addon Options only.
  • TF999 Inventory stack-move holds are under vanilla Controls → TF999 Inventory, not Configure Addons. Item restriction (no NVGs on caps, or any item vs any item) is Addon Options only. Inventory Radio / Pack buttons appear when ACRE is loaded; Open SW / Open LR appear when TFAR is loaded instead.
  • USP NVG attach / stow / phosphor has no keys — it lives on the ACE Equipment menu under NVG.
  • Jabal al-Halal (the North Sinai map and its rocks/houses/bunkers) has no Addon Options and no extra keys.
  • MapTools Remastered "Open Tools" has no key — open the map, then use the ACE self-interaction menu to select it (only shows up while the map is open); click again anywhere on the radial menu to pick a tool.
  • Vegetation Interaction (Environment Main) has no keybinds — it works automatically; Addon Options only control who it affects, how strong it is and how often it checks.
  • Weather modules (Environment Weather) have no keybinds — Zeus places them from the module list; Addon Options only switch individual modules on or off.
  • Pilot and crew gear (Gear Pilot Crew) has no keybinds and no options — "Toggle Visor" and "Toggle Mask" are scroll-wheel actions on the pilot character.
  • Ship air defense (Vehicles Air Defense) has no keybinds and no options — the launcher and radar are placed in the editor and use the normal vehicle controls.
  • Break Window (Tools Misc) has no keybind — it's an ACE self-interaction menu action near any window. Addon Options only control the range, sound, and whether it works on invincible buildings.
  • TF999 Incognito has no keys. Undercover checks run automatically from Addon Options.
  • Environment lighting has no keys — skies and outdoor light change with the map, nothing to bind.
  • TF999 Enhanced Ranks has no keys. Zeus's "Enhanced Rank" module and Eden's insignia attributes are point-and-click; per-player insignia assignment is Addon Options / mission-config only (see TF999 Enhanced Ranks above).
  • TF999 Persistence Players has no keys — it runs automatically on connect and respawn, nothing to trigger yourself.
  • The extra white smoke grenades (M19 impact-fuse and M83A long-burn) have no keys — they are throwables in the arsenal, same as a normal smoke grenade.
  • The realistic mine detector (longer detect range, no on-screen radar panel) has no keys — it's always active on the vanilla Mine Detector item.
  • AE3 Computers (laptops, routers, USB drives) has no rebindable keys. Its terminal reads your keyboard directly while a terminal window is focused, the same as typing in any other text box — see settings_users.md for its Addon Options.
  • TF999 - Tools Interactions (hide action-menu entries) has no keys — every option is an Addon Options checkbox, see settings_users.md.
  • TF999 AI Culler has no keys — culling is automatic, toggled from Addon Options, see settings_users.md.
  • TF999 Crows Zeus Additions (Zeus Text) rebindable key: Ctrl+Shift+H toggles the medical status overlay. Its PingBox HUD reacts to a fixed Backspace/Y hotkey (screenshot mode) that is not rebindable.
  • TF999 Zeus Widgets (3D gizmos / auto-cleanup) has no rebindable keys. In Zeus: Ctrl+T toggles the gizmo, Ctrl+R switches move/rotate, Ctrl+G switches local/world, Ctrl+I hides the HUD, Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y undo/redo. Cleanup modules and extra object attributes (position, rotation, sensor signatures) are in the Zeus module tree / attributes panel.
  • Zeus Additions (extended Zeus toolset) has two rebindable keys, Ctrl+Alt+C / Ctrl+Alt+V, for deep-copying and pasting a unit's full loadout including nested containers. Its many other tools (ACE Zeus actions, draw-to-build, teleport patterns, the misc toolbox, garrison/breach/paradrop/suicide-bomber/etc. modules, Zeus target-engagement filters) are all ZEN curator modules or right-click context-menu actions, not keys — see the module tree / right-click menu in Zeus.
  • EVEN Better Inventory (EBI) has three experimental on-sling keys, all unbound by default: Swap Primary / On-Sling, Draw On-Sling Rifle, Draw Primary Rifle. Bind them yourself in Configure Addons if you want to use the on-sling feature. Everything else (layout, sizing, preview) is Addon Options, see settings_users.md.
