Diving

A realistic scuba system. Rebreathers, breathing-gas cylinders, a dive computer and dive-gear clothing, with real risks if you dive badly: run out of air, dive too deep on the wrong gas, or surface too fast and your body pays for it.

Rebreathers and gas cylinders

• Rebreathers (including the LAR-V) are worn as a vest. Without one, none of the dive systems work.
• Cylinders come as a single or a twinset, each filled with a specific gas: compressed air, pure oxygen, nitrox (EAN28, EAN32, EAN36, EAN40), heliox (8.5, 12, 21) and trimix (21/35, 18/45, 15/55, 12/65, 10/70). Empty cylinders exist too.
• Carry the cylinder in your inventory, then connect it from the ACE self-interaction menu under Equipment ("Use single..." or "Use twinset..."). You can only swap gas on the surface, or while nothing is connected.
• Each rebreather only accepts the gas types it is built for, so a cylinder that does not suit your rebreather will not offer a connect option.
• Cylinder pressure drops as you breathe, and breathing faster at depth uses it faster.

Dive computer

• Shows your depth, cylinder pressure, time underwater, remaining dive time, ascent rate, decompression and deep-stop requirements, maximum safe depth for your gas and the oxygen and nitrogen pressure you are breathing.
• Warnings flash on it with a beep: low air, out of air, oxygen too high, nitrogen too high, ascending too fast, and missed decompression.
• Toggle it on and off with a keybind (you need a dive computer item and a rebreather).

Dangers

• Going deeper than your gas allows causes oxygen poisoning: a blurred, distorted, blacked-out screen.
• Breathing too much nitrogen at depth causes nitrogen narcosis with similar screen effects.
• Ascending above a required decompression stop brings on decompression sickness, again with screen effects. Surfacing with unfinished decompression hurts you badly.
• Ascending too fast causes pain, and skipping a required deep stop stops you sprinting for a few minutes.
• Running out of air and staying without it for about two minutes kills you.

Diving mask

• The diving goggles can be put on and taken off from the ACE self-interaction menu while on the surface. They switch to the normal underwater goggles by themselves when you enter the water.

Dive gear

• Rebreathers, wetsuits, drysuits, the dive computer and a diving bag are in the arsenal.
• The cylinders can be worn as backpacks in many colours and finishes (black, yellow, white, desert, ocean, winter, dark metal, wood camo and more), as single or double cylinders.
