Pushing through vegetation

Walking or running straight into dense bushes, small trees and undergrowth now slows you down. The faster you move, the more the foliage holds you back: a slow walk loses a little, a sprint loses the most. Standing still costs nothing, and the slowdown stops as soon as you clear the plants.

  • It works for soldiers controlled by AI as well, so an enemy cutting through a thicket is no faster than you are.
  • Vegetation hidden by mission tools no longer slows anyone.
  • Nothing else about your movement is overridden: a faster or slower pace you get from other features (an AI reaction boost, your chosen walking speed, climbing or carrying someone) is kept and the vegetation slowdown is applied on top of it.
  • Soldiers inside vehicles, climbing, carrying someone or down and unconscious are not affected.

Exact options (turning the effect on or off for players and AI, its strength and how often it checks) are listed in docs/settings_users.md.
