Rappelling and Fast-Roping
Lets you rappel down buildings and cliffs with a rope, and fast-rope out of supported helicopters. Everything is in the ACE self-interaction menu under Rappelling & Fast-Roping.
Rappelling (buildings and cliffs)
- Stand near an edge and choose Rappel Self to attach a rope and go over. If the edge is too far or the rope is too short, you are told so.
- While hanging on a rope you can descend, climb back to the top, detach the harness, or attach to a rope someone has already left in place.
- The included rappelling gear (harness) and a range of ropes from 9 to 192 metres are added as items.
- A wire cutter cuts your longest rope in half, without being used up, if you need a shorter one.
Fast-roping from helicopters
- In a supported helicopter, use Prepare Rope to drop a fast-rope (needs a rope of at least 9 metres in you or the aircraft), then Rappel Self to slide down.
- You can also send your AI squad members down the rope, and detach the rappel device when finished.
- You can require a harness, plus any extra worn or carried kit (for example gloves), before you may descend.
Settings
- What you must carry to rappel: nothing, a rope only, or harness and rope.
- Whether ropes stay in your inventory, are left at the start point, or stay in place for others.
- How fast you descend.
- Harness and extra-kit requirements for fast-roping.
Options are under Addon Options → TF999 Rappelling & Fast-Roping; see settings_users.md.
Keybinds
Category TF999 Tactical → Fast-Roping: one all-in-one key (default Shift+R) that attaches to a rope, rappels or detaches as appropriate, and a key to detach from a persistent rope (default Ctrl+R). See keybinds_users.md.
